Your lighting source

A modern living room is one of the most important rooms in the house, where the hosts, their guests and friends gather together on some occasions and to spend some time together. That’s why the living room’s design should be well done. Other reasons are that your living room represents your whole house to those who visit it and it is also the place where you relax with your family.

While working out the design you should remember that the room has to be divided into several areas. One area will serve for the guests – there you may place a big dining table with chairs. Other areas will be recreational with such things like a stereo system or a TV set serving as centers of these areas. It is necessary that all types of lighting for different areas were carefully considered. We can use both general and local lighting for the living room, the latter can be functional as well as decorative.

In the area where you have a comfortable couch, armchairs and a coffee table you can set up a floor lamp or wall lights that will make the setting even cozier. You can use the same lighting for the area with your TV set, but make sure that no direct light falls on the screen. Lighting should be warm and dispersed, allowing you to concentrate on the movie you’re watching.

You can enhance your living room with all kinds of lights – you can accentuate some bookshelves, pictures, vases and aquariums. Lights with a dimmer that allows to control the brightness will be an asset, too.
